Apericena (a-per-ee-chaina) is a casual Italian social hour that begins as an aperitivo and effortlessly segues into a wine-filled dinner. At Dear Emilia, we are thrilled to continue our Apericena Wine Education series, using this relaxed format as an educational platform where wine takes center stage, beautifully complemented by a lighter, multi-course dinner.

For this special event, join Giorgia Armanelli, Export Director for Berlucchi winery, as we explore Italy’s premier sparkling wine region: Franciacorta. Nothing gives us more pleasure than exceptional bubbles, and Franciacorta is truly Italy’s answer to Champagne.

In 1961, winery founders Guido Berlucchi and Franco Ziliani recognized that this land near Lake Iseo was the ideal location to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using the traditional method, where second fermentation happens directly in the bottle. Berlucchi has been a house staple poured by the glass at both of our restaurants since day one, and we cannot wait to showcase how brilliantly these wines pair with food.

As a Franciacorta native, Giorgia brings insider knowledge and authentic local stories to our community table. She will guide the tasting as we pour six featured sparkling wines, including several rare bottles making their Colorado debut for the first time.

To complement the pours, our culinary team will serve custom-paired stuzzicchini (small bites), a dedicated pasta course, and dessert. The evening's lineup includes a mix of styles: Berlucchi '61 Nature, '61 Nature Rosé 2018, Cuvée Imperiale Max Rosé, '61 Rosé Brut, '61 Extra Brut NV, and '61 Cuvée Imperiale Brut.
