Campania
Wine Dinner
with Carla Giusy Favati
of I Favati Winery
While Dear Emilia is rooted in the soul of Emilia-Romagna, our hearts have always had a soft spot for the rugged, volcanic landscapes of Campania. On this night, we pull back the curtain on one of our favorite long-standing producers for an evening that celebrates the undiscovered side of Southern Italy.
We are thrilled to welcome Carla Giusy Favati, who joins us from the mountains of Irpinia to share the stories, heritage, and hands-on philosophy of her family’s multigenerational estate. This is a chance to move beyond the familiar and experience the "Big Three" grapes of the South—Aglianico, Greco, and Fiano—as they were meant to be enjoyed: surrounded by good company and paired with a menu designed specifically for their unique character.
The evening is a guided journey through the I Favati cellar. You will taste your way through six different wines, including a side-by-side exploration of Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, before moving into the deep, storied reds of Taurasi.
Carla will walk us through the volcanic terroir and the family’s tradition of holding wines back until they reach their peak, offering a rare look at the 2012 Riserva and the exceptional 2009 "White Label" Taurasi Riserva.
It is a night of education through the glass, uncovering why these ancient varieties, likely cultivated since the time of the Greeks, remain some of the most exciting and prestigious wines on the Italian peninsula.
We invite you to pull up a chair at our community table for a night that is as much about connection as it is about the wine. Each course from our culinary team has been crafted as a conversation partner to the I Favati bottles, creating a seamless flow between the stories shared by Carla and the flavors in the glass.
Because of the intimate nature of the evening and the rarity of the library vintages being poured, seating is naturally limited to a small group of enthusiasts.
Reception begins promptly at 6:00. Dinner begins at 6:15.
